Best Goalkeeper Gloves for Juniors in 2026

Two things we believe in for everyone, not just kids...

You need to be able to FEEL the ball if you want to get better at catching it and parrying it.
You need to know your gloves are "there" — they won't move and there's no obstructions in the way when trying to catch and make saves.

These two principles are at the heart of every glove we make at VOS Sports. And when it comes to junior goalkeeper gloves, they matter even more. Young keepers are still developing their technique — the last thing they need is a glove that gets in the way.

What to Look for in Junior Goalkeeper Gloves

1. Fit and Sizing

A proper fit is everything. Gloves that are too big will affect handling and control, while gloves that are too tight can be uncomfortable and restrict movement. Measure your child's hand from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger and use the size guide to find the right fit. When in doubt, size down — a snug glove gives better feel and control.

2. Latex Grip

Not all latex is equal. Our junior gloves use 3mm Pro Contact Latex — a thinner latex that improves ball contact and control while maintaining reliable grip in both dry and wet conditions. Thinner latex means more feel, which is exactly what a developing keeper needs to build confidence and good handling habits. Mick N., a goalkeeper coach who bought a pair for his grandson, put it perfectly: "being a bit thinner than some other brands gives a better feel of the ball."

3. Cut Style

The cut determines how the glove sits on the hand and how much latex contacts the ball. We offer two cuts in our junior range:

No-Gusset Negative Cut (Kids VOS Match 2.0) — a snug, close-to-hand fit with no gusset between the fingers. This gives a clean, tight feel with maximum latex-to-ball contact and a small cut-away between the thumb and index finger for freedom of movement. Ideal for young keepers who want a precise, secure fit.

Fingertip Construction (Kids VOS Match Tenax) — our most advanced junior cut. The no-gusset negative cut is fused with a continuous latex fingertip construction, meaning the latex wraps all the way over the fingertips for uninterrupted contact on first touch. It creates a claw-like grip that reacts to the ball and stabilises the fingers for a stronger, more secure hold.

4. No Unnecessary Bulk

Junior gloves should be lightweight and unobtrusive. Heavy padding or oversized finger spines can actually hinder development by reducing feel and making saves feel mechanical. A junior keeper should barely notice the glove is there — except when the ball hits the palm.

A Note for Parents: Don't Buy Gloves to "Grow Into"

We totally get it — kids grow fast and goalkeeper gloves aren't cheap. It's tempting to buy a size up so they last longer. But gloves that are too big reduce feel and control at exactly the age when good habits are being formed. An ill-fitting glove can actually hold a young keeper back.

The better investment is buying the right size now and making them last as long as possible. The single biggest thing you can do to extend the life of any goalkeeper glove is wash them after every use. Dirt, sweat, and mud break down the latex quickly — a quick rinse after every session can double the lifespan of a glove.

Not sure how to wash them properly? Our Glove Care Guide walks you through everything step by step.

One more tip: keep the palms slightly damp before a game. A little moisture activates the latex and gives you noticeably better grip from the first save.

What Our Customers Say

"My grandson loves these gloves. He has had them for a couple of weeks and found that they give great grip in the dry conditions. Over the last few days he has had chance to try them in the rain and hailstones, and they performed just as well. I am a goalkeeper coach at my local club and I also have a pair, they are very very good. Excellent grip, nice tight fit, being a bit thinner than some other brands gives a better feel of the ball. My grandson feels really confident wearing them, particularly with the latex going over the top of the fingers." — Mick N. ✓ Verified Buyer | Kids VOS Match Tenax | 19 May 2026

"Love the new gloves. My son's 4th pair now and prefers them to T1tan, One Glove and others. Hard wearing and hold their shape in wet weather. Keeps the white ones to look his best on match days 💪👊"  — Andrew M. ✓ Verified Buyer | Kids VOS Match 2.0 | 7 April 2026
